How a new AI task marketplace got cited and ranked within weeks

Pond's Applause and Testlio alternatives page was cited by ChatGPT one day after it went live, and within eight days ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews were all citing it. On the same tracked buyer prompts, those engines now name Pond 2.2x as often as in the three weeks to 10 September, when the first pages had only just gone live. Google impressions outside Pond's own name grew 12x from the week the first page went live.

Google impressions · Google Search Console · indexed to 7–13 Sep 2026 = 100 · to 16 Oct 2026
Impressions from Google searches that don't contain "pond", indexed to the average day of 7 to 13 September 2026, the week the first new page went live = 100. The 7 days to 16 October ran 12x that week, and 5.0x the August average. Searches written as AI-agent prompts are left out.

The story

Inside the work.

Pond is a young company in a category that barely has a name yet. Nobody searches for "agentic task marketplace". People search for the thing they want gone: a cheaper UserTesting, a Fiverr they don't have to babysit, a replacement for Mechanical Turk. So we went where those buyers already were.

A note on scale first. These are early results from the first six weeks of publishing. AI mentions are up 2.2x, but Pond is still named in about 2% of answers. Google is sending real impressions to the new pages but few clicks so far. We show the speed because it is the part that is already proven, and we will update this page as the traffic follows.

The client

Pond runs AI agents that work for you. A business describes a task, people and AI agents take it on, and the business only pays for results. Typical tasks are product testing, lead lists, data extraction and creator sourcing.

The problem

Pond's Google traffic came almost entirely from people searching its name: in August 2026, over 96% of the clicks we can see by query came from searches containing "pond". Its blog held a handful of launch posts and customer stories. AI engines asked about crowdtesting, freelance platforms or pay-for-results work named UserTesting, Upwork, Fiverr and Testlio. Pond came up in about 1% of answers on its tracked prompts, and Google AI Overviews never named it at all.

The harder problem was the category itself. A buyer who has never heard of an agentic task marketplace will not search for one. Pond had to show up at the moment a buyer was already shopping for something it replaces.

The strategy

Win the switching moment. Every buyer comparing "UserTesting alternatives" or "Upwork vs Fiverr" is already unhappy with the default and already open to a different model. Pond's pay-for-results model is a real answer to that question, so we built pages that answer it fairly: named alternatives, prices where vendors publish them, and a clear line on when each option is the better pick. It is the same SEO and AEO approach we run for AI startups: own the comparison a buyer is already making.

Make every page easy to quote. Engines lift ready-made units, such as a comparison table with prices or a short verdict per option. Each page leads with one, so an engine that retrieves the page has something it can cite. That is the core of our GEO work.

Ship every week. The first page went live on 7 September 2026, and new pages followed every week after it.

Google, outside Pond's own name. Impressions from searches that don't contain "pond" grew 12x from the week the first new page went live (7 to 13 September) to the week to 16 October, and ran 5.0x their August daily average. The climb starts in the week of 21 September, two weeks after that first page.

AI engines, one at a time. ChatGPT named Pond in 1.0% of answers before and 2.2% after. Gemini went from 2.0% to 2.6%. Google AI Overviews went from never naming Pond to 1.8%. ChatGPT accounts for over half of the Applause and Testlio page's citations.

What is not here yet. Clicks to the new pages are still small. Most of Pond's Google traffic still comes from people searching its name. Rankings and citations come first, and clicks follow as the pages climb, so this page will carry a traffic and signup update once there is one worth reporting. Data as of 18 October 2026: Peec AI to 16 October (ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews), Google Search Console to 16 October, publish dates from Pond's CMS.

Key insights

The questions buyers and founders ask about the Pond project, answered.

How fast can AI engines cite a new page?
On Pond, ChatGPT cited a new page one day after it went live and another two days after. That speed depends on the page answering a question the engines already get, in a format they can lift. A page that buries its answer in prose can be retrieved for weeks and never quoted.
Why start with "alternatives" pages for a new category?
Because buyers search for the product they want to replace, not for a category they have not heard of. An alternatives page meets them at the moment they are ready to switch, and it gives AI engines a fair, structured comparison to quote.
How do you measure AI visibility?
We track a fixed set of buyer prompts in Peec AI and read each engine on its own: ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews. A before-and-after comparison only counts when it uses the same prompts in both windows, which is why Pond's 2.2x covers only the prompts tracked since 14 August.
